This page explains, in ordinary language, how Cardiology Courses Online uses cookies and similar browser storage. The site hosts course enrolments, a bookshop and learning material, and some of those functions cannot work unless your browser is allowed to remember a small amount of information between one page and the next. Other uses, such as measurement, are optional and depend on the choice you make in the cookie banner.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. When you move to another page, or return later, the browser sends that file back so the site can recognise the same visit or the same signed-in account. Related technologies, such as local storage, work in a similar way and are covered by this page. Cookies used here hold short technical identifiers; they are not a record of your medical history.
Cookies this site sets in ordinary operation
Session and login
When you sign in as a student, instructor or customer, the site sets cookies that keep you signed in as you move between pages, and that protect forms and account actions against misuse. Without these, you would be signed out on every click. These are necessary for the site to function and are set whether or not you accept optional cookies.
Shop and cart
Our shop runs on WooCommerce. It uses cookies to remember what you have put in your basket, to hold your basket while you continue browsing, and to carry you safely through checkout. If these are blocked, items may disappear from the basket and checkout may not complete.
Course progress
Course delivery runs on Tutor LMS. It uses cookies and browser storage to keep track of the lesson you are viewing, your position within a module, quiz attempts in progress and similar learning state, so progress is not lost when you close a tab or return the next day.
Consent preference
When you answer the cookie banner, the site stores your choice so that it does not ask again on every page. That preference cookie is itself necessary; without it we would have no way to remember that you declined optional cookies.
Analytics and measurement
Where you allow it, we use analytics cookies to understand which pages and course materials are actually read, how visitors arrive, and where pages fail or load slowly. We look at this in aggregate to improve the teaching material and navigation. Analytics cookies are optional and are only set after consent.
Embedded content and third parties
Some pages include material hosted elsewhere, such as embedded video, maps or payment forms. When that content loads, the provider may set its own cookies under its own policy, which we do not directly control. We keep such embeds to what the teaching or the checkout needs.
Managing your consent
Optional cookies on this site are managed through the cookie banner. You can accept or decline optional categories when the banner first appears, and you can change your mind later by reopening the banner or the cookie settings link where it is shown. Changing your choice applies from that point onward; cookies already stored can be cleared through your browser as described below.
Controlling cookies in your browser
Every major browser lets you control cookies independently of this site. In your browser’s settings, usually under privacy or site data, you can:
- View the cookies and storage held for a particular site.
- Delete cookies for one site or clear them all.
- Block third-party cookies, or block cookies from specific sites.
- Set the browser to clear cookies each time you close it, or browse in a private window.
Please note that blocking or deleting necessary cookies will affect the site. You may be signed out of your account, lose the contents of your basket, or find that course progress is not recorded.
Questions about this policy
If you have a question about cookies here, or something behaves differently from what is described, please write to us through the contact page and we will look into it. This page may be updated as the platform changes. This policy is provided for information and is not legal advice.
