Practical Cardiology Certificate for Physicians
Twelve weeks of the cardiology you use every day: read the ECG with confidence, triage chest pain, start guideline-based therapy, and know exactly when to refer. Taught by a senior interventional cardiologist through real cases.
Built for doctors who see cardiac patients but are not cardiologists
Most cardiac patients are first seen by a physician, not a cardiologist. This programme gives you a clear, guideline-based approach for the decisions you make every week, without the depth only a cardiology fellow needs.
General physicians and MD Medicine residents
Ward and OPD cardiology, from the ECG to discharge therapy.
GPs and family physicians
Safe first-line care in the clinic, and the right referral at the right time.
Emergency doctors and intensivists
Chest pain, shock, arrhythmias and the first hour of cardiac emergencies.
Diabetologists and nephrologists
Cardiorenal-metabolic protection with SGLT2 inhibitors, GLP-1 receptor agonists and lipid therapy.
By the end of 12 weeks you will be able to
- Read an ECG systematically and recognise STEMI equivalents and life-threatening patterns
- Work up chest pain with hs-troponin pathways and choose thrombolysis or primary PCI
- Start and titrate four-pillar therapy for heart failure
- Choose DAPT, DAT or TAT after PCI using bleeding-risk scores
- Anticoagulate atrial fibrillation correctly and decide rate versus rhythm control
- Treat hypertension, lipids and diabetes to current targets
- Read an echo report and know when a valve patient needs TAVR or TEER assessment
- Stabilise cardiogenic shock, pulmonary embolism and tamponade, and refer safely
The 12-week curriculum
Every module is taught from current guidelines and the landmark trials behind them, and ends with a “when to refer” checklist.

Your faculty
Dr A M Thirugnanam
Dr Thirugnanam specialises in complex coronary intervention, including CTO PCI and unprotected left main stenting, and structural heart procedures, including TAVR. He is the founder of the Academy of Elite Doctors and the author of more than 70 cardiology textbooks and clinical guides, including The Heart Failure Playbook, ECG Quick Notes, Mastering Cardiac Emergencies and TAVR Tricks and Tips.
He teaches the way cardiology is practised: case first, guideline second, and always the question “what do I do next for this patient?”

Questions doctors ask
I work long hours. Can I keep up?
Yes. The programme needs 3–4 hours a week, every lecture is 15–20 minutes, and all live sessions are recorded. Founding-cohort learners keep access for life.
Is this a degree or a recognised specialist qualification?
No. It is a certificate programme from the Academy of Elite Doctors, showing that you completed the course and passed its assessments. It does not replace a DM, DNB or other specialist training.
Is it suitable for cardiology fellows?
It is designed for physicians and non-cardiologists. Cardiology fellows should look at the Interventional Cardiology Mastery and Cardiology Board programmes, opening later.
What if I miss a live case night?
Every session is recorded and posted within 24 hours. Watching the recording counts towards the attendance requirement.
Do I need any software?
Only a phone, tablet or computer with internet access. Lectures, quizzes and live sessions all run in the browser.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes. Write to us for a two-instalment plan for the founding cohort: email us.
Make cardiology the part of medicine you are most confident in
Founding cohort starts 23 November 2026. 50 seats at ₹25,000 / $499.
