Broken Heart Syndrome — Takotsubo Course Text

Original price was: ₹2,700.00.Current price is: ₹550.00.

Set text for the Stress Cardiomyopathy modules, where the teaching begins at the moment the angiogram comes back unobstructed.

The module starts after the angiogram

Every case in this block runs the same opening: chest pain, ST elevation, activation, angiography — and unobstructed coronaries. Learners handle that part correctly and almost universally. What follows is where the cohort scatters, because many still carry the belief that this condition is benign and self-limiting.

The module that changes practice

The shock case. A Takotsubo patient becomes hypotensive, and the overwhelming majority of learners reach for an inotrope. The module then reveals left ventricular outflow tract obstruction, and the inotrope makes it worse. It is the single most memorable session in the block and the reason the text is set reading rather than optional.

Correcting the benign reputation

Registry mortality comparable to acute coronary syndrome. Cardiogenic shock, apical thrombus, malignant arrhythmia. Real recurrence rates. Long-term outcomes worse than the early literature implied.

The variants

Midventricular, basal and focal forms, which are missed because they do not resemble the textbook image, and secondary Takotsubo triggered by physical rather than emotional stress — commoner in hospital populations and routinely unrecognised.

Short block

Fourteen chapters and four teaching sessions. Learners frequently take it as a standalone rather than as part of a track.
