A track taught from recorded cases
The Interventional Cardiology track is built on annotated case recordings rather than didactic lectures. A procedure is shown, paused at the decision point, and the cohort commits to the next step before the operator’s actual choice is revealed. It is the closest thing to cath lab apprenticeship that a remote course can offer.
These set texts were chosen because they are written by a practising interventional cardiologist and carry the same operational grain — the technical chapters answer the questions a learner asks at the paused frame, not the questions a textbook expects.
Reading ahead of the case mix
Our guidance to learners with concurrent cath lab exposure is to keep the reading ahead of the procedures they are scrubbing on. Reading the bifurcation chapter after the first bifurcation converts a formative experience into a retrospective one. The bundle is sequenced to make running ahead practical.
Technical coverage
Radial and femoral access with their respective closure and complication management. Diagnostic angiography and lesion assessment. Physiological assessment — FFR, iFR, and the situations in which the number misleads. Intravascular imaging with IVUS and OCT, including the current unsettled state of the imaging-guided PCI evidence. Calcium modification and lesion preparation. Bifurcation and left main strategy against SYNTAX and EXCEL. Chronic total occlusion algorithms. Primary PCI. Structural procedures at fellow level.
Complication modules
The complication material carries its own module block: no-reflow and slow flow, perforation graded by severity, dissection, retroperitoneal haemorrhage, acute and subacute stent thrombosis, equipment entrapment. Each is taught and written as an action sequence, because a description of a complication is of no use during one.
Antithrombotic strategy is covered against TWILIGHT, AUGUSTUS, PIONEER AF-PCI and MASTER DAPT, with the reasoning exposed rather than compressed.
