The track these belong to
Advanced Clinical Cardiology is the only track we run where the unfolding cases are chosen because they do not resolve neatly. Learners commit to a decision, the case develops, and frequently the correct answer turns out to be that two defensible options existed and the reasoning mattered more than the choice.
Learners find it frustrating. It is also the track that changes practice most, and these are its set texts.
Why these volumes and not the foundation ones
Foundation texts give a threshold. These give the derivation — the population a number came from, and the point at which a patient sits far enough outside it that the number stops applying. That is precisely what the advanced modules interrogate.
Module pairing
Each module in the track has a designated chapter, set as post-session reading so learners meet the case before the explanation. Tutors are asked not to release the reading early; a learner who has read the chapter argues from it instead of reasoning from the patient.
Entry requirement
The general cardiology track, or equivalent clinical experience. Learners who join early tend to conclude the material is unclear when in fact it is unresolved, which is a different thing and a harder one to teach.
