A track built around the consultation
Prevention teaching usually stops at the evidence. Our track does not, because the limiting factor in practice is almost never the clinician’s knowledge of what should be prescribed — it is whether the patient in front of them will take it in eighteen months’ time.
Roughly a third of the track is therefore consultation work, and these set texts carry that material as well as the pharmacology.
Module blocks
The risk block covers stratification and the situations where calculators mislead, including age extremes and South Asian populations. The lipid block runs from first-line therapy through residual risk and Lp(a). The pressure block takes hypertension across the treatment sequence. The metabolic block deals with diabetes and obesity where they change cardiovascular outcome rather than only glycaemia. The behaviour block handles smoking, alcohol, sleep, activity and adherence.
Case format
Cases here unfold over simulated years rather than hours — the same patient returns at intervals, having partly complied, and learners see the cumulative consequence of each consultation. It is the only track where the case format runs on that timescale.
Enrolment fit
Cardiologists running risk clinics, general and family physicians, diabetologists, and trainees filling an acknowledged gap in their own teaching.
